The Center for Victims provides a comprehensive continuum of direct services and advocacy for victims of all crime, as well as ongoing education for the professionals who serve them and the communities in which we all live.
We are the largest, most comprehensive nonprofit victim service agency in Allegheny County. For 38 years, we have been providing services to victims of all crimes.
Our mission: healing trauma, supporting victims and creating social change for a more peaceful community.
Our services include: 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter and transitional housing, crime victim and witness assistance, offender release notification, victim’s compensation assistance, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, medical advocacy, children’s advocacy, crisis intervention, therapeutic counseling/therapy, options counseling, emergency protection from abuse orders assistance. Additionally, we provide community mediation, facilitation, victim offender dialogue, and training.
Annually, we serve 15,000 victims and provide community outreach to over 30,000 individuals. As part of our outreach efforts we partner with local and state organizations on several initiatives throughout the year to spread awareness of violence and crime.
Furthermore, we are the only agency to provide an evidence-based, comprehensive teen dating violence prevention program to eight local high schools. This program reaches over 6,000 teens each year and is fully funded by local foundations and individual contributions.
